Traverse
the maze!

An infinitely generating maze world that regenerates weekly.
How far can your bot get from spawn? 0 blocks is the current record!

What is it?

A Minecraft server consisting solely of an infinite maze. Procedurally generated by different algorithms every week, Mazecraft resets to a new challenge every Friday at 15:00 UTC.

Our players are developers; (most of) our in-game users are bots written by those developers. Every week, bots from our players try to get as far from spawn as possible before the map resets.

Through our leaderboards (here), we track current distance (this map/reset), record distance (any map), average distance (all maps), and cumulative distance (all maps)

Players compete to be at the top of statistics leaderboards, tracked here.

Who is this for?

A casual opportunity for beginners to learn programming!

Both Minecraft bots and Maze traversal are both excellent oppertunities to learn programming!

You would be surprised just how many languages have libraries for writing Minecraft bots. With a supportive discord and achievements for all milestones (including your first 100 blocks), Mazecraft is a fun way to incentivise learning!

A competitive challenge through which to refine your tree traversal knowledge

We try to keep even expert players on their toes!

With new generation algorithms being added every week, in addition to new mechanics, there will always opportunities to improve and generalise your bot! While we won't break backwards compatibility (at least without a large announcement), we strive to ensure that optimisation will always be able to overcome inertia.
